In compliance with Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry regulations around the COVID-19 pandemic, Passion for Pets Rescue (PPR) is moving back to 'normal' operations. Processes may move slightly slower than people wish and we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we move each dog to their forever home.
Passion for Pets Rescue (PPR) is a non-profit, insured and state licensed rescue, run by volunteers. We are a small group of like minded folks with big hearts. PPR does not have an actual shelter, all of our dogs are in foster homes in Maine or with our Southern and Mid-western partners.
We rely heavily on volunteers. Most folks have skills that they don't realize can help.
PPR covers all medical expenses. The majority of the dogs we rescue require immediate veterinary care. Skin infections and internal parasites are common occurrences. We pay for all spay & neuter surgeries. PPR makes sure all dogs are given age appropriate vaccinations, as well as, preventative medication for heartworm and external parasites.
It is illegal in the states of Maine, New Hampshire & Massachusetts for a dog or puppy to get off any transport and go directly to the adopting family. All dogs are fostered for at least 48 hours or five days, depending on age, prior to going to their forever homes.
